Several popular racking system for cold store:
Drive in racking: it’s the most widely used racking system in cold store. The investment for drive in racking is low. The racking passage and forklift passage is combined, thus the warehouse storage rate is increased, the storage density is also maximum compare with normal selective racking. Drive in racking is used to storage big lots with single items and low turnover rate. It’s first in last out. It’s not suitable for lots items with small quantity.
Shuttle racking: shuttle racking is similar with drive in racking, it use trolley to load/unload pallet. Racking passage combined with trolley passage, forklift only load/unload in sides of racking system. which can make first in first out. The forklift don’t need to drive through into racking system, the operation efficiency is increased with drive in racking
Double Deep Racking: Double deep racking is similar with normal selective pallet racking, but we can storage 2 pallets in depth direction, which increased storage capacity. But double deep pallet racking require special double deep forklift, the investment is thus increased.
Push Back Racking: push back racking system combine advantage of drive through racking and gravity racking. the forklift only push pallet from front racking, it’s first in last out. It can be used in both storage and turnover cold warehouse, the logistic efficiency is very high. The investment cost is higher than drive in racking and lower than shuttle racking.
VNA Racking: VNA racking is very narrow aisle racking system. The forklift passage is only about 1300mm. VNA racking should use narrow aisle forklift to operate. The forklift can be used through 3 direction and side shift. Thus the forklift don’t need to turn in the aisle. The racking height can be 15m. Thus the storage capacity can be increased a lot
